Single Source Technologies (SST) of Auburn Hills, Michigan, is showcasing a complete line of technologies in its East Hall consumables Booth E-5041, from high-performance EDM wire to advanced filtration products for seasoned and first-time EDM users.

This booth is featuring two live EDM demonstrations: a Makino EDAF2 sinker machine with Hyper-i control and a four-station automatic tool-change rack producing mold and die components, and a U3 wire machine with Hyper-i control and HyperCut technology achieving a 16 microinches surface finish in just three machining passes—one rough cut and two skim cuts.

Designed specifically for Makino’s U-Series wire EDMs, the advanced gamma-phase HyperCut wire combines the characteristics of first-generation, high-speed gamma-phase wire with the precision and surface quality typically found on a traditional zinc-coated wire, the company says. Also on display is the automatic wire threading of 0.010-inch-diameter wire using the HyperCut-coated wire.

SST is also showcasing its new Zero Point tooling line. This clamping system for wire EDMs is said to offer a wide spectrum of fixturing options and a complete beam system adaptable to multiple machine tables and sizes.
