Modernizing Metrology Interfaces

Wireless transmission and capacitive touch interfaces mark the next generation of traditional metrology devices.

Mahr is embracing the future with new ways to interact with its height gages and comparators. At the show, the company is debuting the new Digimar 817 CLT series of height gages. The new line features a Windows-based touch interface and wireless transmission capability. The company envisions a future where the tried and true height gage that adorns many CNC operators’ workstations is digitally connected to the shop’s metrology workflow.

The Millimess 2000 and 2001 W(i) are on display as well. These new electronic comparators have a redesigned interface that eliminates tactile buttons and replaces them with capacitive buttons. With this change, the comparator is now resistant to oil, water and dust. This also means that the device is easier to clean with its large tempered-glass display.

Pat Nugent, vice president of product management, says these product updates are part of a larger movement toward Industry 4.0. To demonstrate the benefits of this movement, Mahr is running a fully networked demo of its various products connected to a single system.

The International Manufacturing Technology Show runs September 12 - 17, 2022 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Register for IMTS today to start planning your show.
