Clamp Bore Grinders an Alternative to Double-Disk Grinders

Nagel’s SPV clamp bore grinders are flexible in high- and low-volume environments and are designed to eliminate changeovers. The grinder features a servo-driven index table capable of holding as many as eight chucks and can also equip as many as three grinding heads, enabling multiple-pass operations. 

According to the company, clamp bore grinders have emerged as an alternative to double-disk grinders, especially for achieving critical bore-to-face perpendicularity with such parts as transmission gears. The company says that unlike double-disk grinders, with which there is no relationship between bore and face, clamp bore grinder parts are clamped to the bore while the face is ground, enabling bore-to-face perpendicularity.

For low-volume, typically high-changeover applications, each of the eight chucks can be dedicated to one part, reducing changeover. For high-volume applications, two chucks can be dedicated to one part: one chuck is dedicated to grinding while the other is dedicated to simultaneous loading/unloading.
