Grinding Machines Increase Workpiece Space, Enhance Rigidity
IMTS 2018: United Grinding is displaying the Walter Helitronic Power 400 and Helitronic Power Diamond 400 grinding machines, both said to offer 35 percent more workpiece space.

United Grinding is displaying the Walter Helitronic Power 400 and Helitronic Power Diamond 400 grinding machines, both said to offer 35 percent more workpiece space and the capability of grinding tools ranging to 380 mm (14.96") in length. They also feature remodeled machine beds with enhanced rigidity for greater vibration damping, improved part surface finishes and greater precision. A worm drive for the C axis, an optional torque motor, and pneumatically-driven steady rests and tailstocks are said to improve grinding and eroding operations by reducing leaks and improving heat management for greater cleanliness.
Unlike previous models, these machines accommodate gantry-style loaders for up to 500 tools or robot loaders for up to 7,500 tools. The Diamond 400 features the company’s Fine Pulse technology, and both machines are equipped with the company’s Helitronic Tool Studio grinding and eroding software.
