Pascal Engineering Inc. is exhibiting double-acting hydraulic expansion clamps designed to maximize workspaces and optimize tool accessibility.
Expansion clamps enable machining to be approached from any direction. The clamps are designed to not create any obstructions by clamping workpieces securely from the bottom, reducing the amount of space the clamp occupies on the jig and protecting metal from deforming.
Additionally, using expansion clamps with a small jig can help to free up more workspace for additional jigs and workpieces, which can boost productivity.
The low-profile gripper design of Pascal’s expansion clamp enables the lift stroke of the workpiece loading system to be shortened, which can also enable high-speed transport and system operation. The clamp sensor detects faulty seating of the workpiece and features an air circuit that can clear away obstructing metal chips and coolant. The flanges tilted design is said to reduce the accumulation of debris.
Specifications of the expansion clamps include:
- Availability in differing diameters
- A pressure range of 1.5-7 MPa
- Proof pressure of 10.5 MPa
- An operating temperature of 0-70°C
- A clamp stroke of 1.2 mm
- General mineral based hydraulic oil (ISO VG32 equivalent) as the fluid used.
