Turning Center Reduces Setup Time

IMTS 2018: Hwacheon’s C2 multi-process turning center with Y- and C-axis control can manufacture parts with complicated shapes in a single chucking operation.

Hwacheon’s C2 multi-process turning center with Y- and C-axis control is said to be able to manufacture parts with complicated shapes in a single chucking operation. The turning center offers ease of use and efficiency, according to the company. Designed with a triple-stack-turret toolchanger, the machine holds up to 30 tools. This reduces setup time, enables tooling of multiple jobs and suits short production runs.

The center is designed to minimize thermal displacement, and the arrangement of units in the heat-symmetrical structure provides thermal stability. The company’s original cooling system enables the rotary tool module inside the turret to maintain processing quality, even during prolonged operation. In addition, the independent orthogonal structure of the X, Y and Z axes reduces feed error.

The swing over bed measures 28.7", with a maximum cutting diameter of 24.8" and a maximum cutting length of 22.2". The spindle rotates as fast as 5,000 rpm, and the 8" chuck on the main spindle accommodates a maximum bar size of 2.56". A range of options are available, including an automatic tool presetter, a parts catcher with conveyor belt and a sub-spindle.
