Twin-Spindle Lathe Is Ideal for Mass Production of Small Parts

Okuma America is debuting the new 2SP-2500H lathe. Designed with high-speed loading to reduce cycle time, this lathe combines two spindles on one machine for increased production of mass-produced parts. At IMTS 2018, the 2SP-2500H will be cutting a bearing race for the automotive industry.

A high-speed overhead gantry loader is standard with this machine tool and enables long, unattended production runs. The machine’s unique design also gives the operator easier access to tools by a modification to the turret orientation. In addition, workpiece transport and changeover times are significantly reduced, resulting in cycle time reductions of up to 17 percent.
