Doosan Machine Tools America’s updated DNM series of VMCs feature faster spindle acceleration and deceleration rates as well as an upgraded FANUC OiMF control to provide quicker processing speed. The third generation of the series is equipped with rigid roller guideways and a grease-based lubrication system that requires a refill every three to six months rather than every few days. A cyclone coolant filter eliminates the need to change a conventional bag-type filter.
The series is comprised of three machines: the DNM 4500, 5700 and 6700 that offer larger cutting envelope, bigger table sizes and heavier loads while maintaining the same overall footprint as the previous generation. The DNM 4500, 5700 and 6700 feature X-axis travels of 800, 1,050 and 1,300 mm (31.5", 41.3" and 51"); Y-axis travels of 450, 570 and 670 mm (17.7", 22.4" and 26.4"); and Z-axis travels of 510, 510 and 625 mm (20", 20" and 24.6").
The machining centers also feature direct-coupled, through-coolant-type spindles as standard, providing 8,000 rpm (15/11 kW) or 12,000 rpm (18.5/11 kW). According to the company, this reduces vibration and noise, and improves thermal displacement during high-speed operations. Tool storage ranges from 30 to 60 stations. Additionally, the coolant delivery design keeps the coolant at the tool tip so that machine operators do not have to adjust and monitor coolant nozzles, says the company.
The series is equipped with Big Plus 40-taper interface and table sizes of 1,000 × 450 mm (39.4" × 17.7"), 1,300 × 570 mm (51.2" × 21.3") and 1,500 × 670 mm (59.1" × 26.4"). Maximum table loads are 600 kg (1,322.8 lbs.), 1000 kg (2,204.6 lbs.), and 1,300 kg (2866 lbs.). The series comes standard with a Renishaw OMI-2T optical probe interface.
