Weiler Abrasives is showcasing a broad portfolio of industrial grinding solutions for gear grinding, precision grinding, roll grinding, metal conditioning and foundries that can help operations increase productivity and solve challenges.

“Our customers often serve industries like aerospace, automotive, medical and other manufacturers of precision components where quality, product performance and on-time delivery are non-negotiables,” says Kyle Thompson, sector manager – industrial production Americas at Weiler Abrasives. “We are dedicated to helping our customers improve their surface conditioning processes and deliver precision-made parts.”

The Weiler Abrasives approach is built upon partnership, technology and service, with the goal of providing innovative, sustainable and scalable industrial grinding solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of the customer and their industry. These goals are achieved through a program called Weiler Process Solutions (WPS), a comprehensive approach where the company’s expert application engineers evaluate a specific process to identify improvement opportunities and quantifiable cost savings.

Weiler Abrasives is also introducing Precision Express, a service that matches an in-house profiling cell with on-hand stock, which is said to cut lead times from months to days.

“Precision Express is our answer to the industry challenge of waiting months for a gear grinding wheel,” Thompson says. “We understand the urgency of servicing customers, which is why we prioritize on-time delivery of our precision gear grinding wheels directly to you.”

Other products featured include:

  • Single-profile gear grinding wheels: Metal removal rates (MRR) make these single-profile wheels capable of grinding from solid and finishing large gears at a cool temperature, which is important when grinding opposing teeth simultaneously.
  • Worm gear grinding wheels: Designed for precision and reliability during continuous gear grinding processes, these wheels use a pre-formed thread on the outside diameter of the wheel to permit the side of the thread tooth to deliver a precise pressure angle to the workpiece. They are said to provide a consistent, repeatable grinding solution for optimal geometry and surface finish in high-volume gear production operations.
  • Bevel gear grinding wheels: These wheels are offered for both static and continuous bevel gear applications. Static operations are primarily used for straight bevel grinding where the profile is plunge-ground into a stationary workpiece. Spiral bevel grinding uses a continuous operation in which the grinding wheel and the workpiece rotate in unison to generate the desired profile along the angled plane of the gear.
  • Foundry grinding products: Weiler Abrasives offers a full stock offering of portable grinding products, such as cups, cones, plugs, mounted points and snagging wheels, in multiple tiers depending on the material type being ground and multiple shapes and sizes to fit common foundry grinders. Weiler also provides a custom product line to help end users optimize and increase performance for cost savings; custom foundry cutoff wheels can be designed and provided up to 36" in diameter.
  • Roll grinding wheels: These grinding wheels are engineered for the precision requirements and roll surface integrity demands of roll grinding. They maintain a consistent edge shape to prevent surface defects and extend wheel life. As a result, operations can improve finishes, reduce production costs and enhance productivity.
  • Metal conditioning wheels: Custom, hot pressed grinding wheels are designed for maximum material removal. Operations can increase G-ratio and metal removal rates, which can result in shorter grinding time and improved production capabilities.
  • Automated deburring brushes: A wide range of wire and nylox brushes are designed for automated deburring processes. These brushes can help remove burrs and sharp edges to improve the quality, performance and reliability of the finished part while increasing throughput and productivity.

In addition to product displays, Weiler Abrasives specialists are available for in-booth consultations.
